Given the incredibly demanding situation, ”la Caixa” Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Galatea Foundation, has set up a telephone number for healthcare workers that provides psychological support to help them handle the stress, exhaustion and fear of infection, both their own and their loved ones, as well as the suffering involved.

  • STRESS AND EXHAUSTION

    due to the large number of demands

    • Take short breaks during the day.

    • Do something that relaxes you.

    • Eat and sleep properly.

  • SADNESS AND FRUSTRATION

    after going through painful situations

    • Seek support from your colleagues and family.

    • Be aware of displays of solidarity and altruism.

    • Celebrate each day's little victories.

  • ETHICAL DILEMMAS

    resulting from difficult/complicated situations

    • Expect difficult decisions.

    • Listen to colleagues' information and opinions for support.

    • Remember you're human: there will be mistakes.

    • Congratulate yourself on your good decisions.

  • FEAR OF INFECTION

    from continued exposure to the virus

    • Accept fear as something normal.

    • Talk about your concerns.

    • Keep up-to-date regarding safety measures.

    • Create safety nets between colleagues.

  • SOCIAL STIGMA

    • Appreciate the fact that the public are thankful to you.

    • Keep in touch with family and friends.
