A unique setting where nature, art, culture and history converge
In 1927 the Russian colonel, Nicolai Woevodsky, a lover of drawing and architecture, and the English aristocrat Dorothy Webster, a fan of decoration, architecture and gardening, decided to set up, on the Cost Brava, a place where they could live and build their dream.
Between Palafrugell and Mont-ras (Girona), they created this remarkable place which today is full of plants from all over the world, sculptures by artists such as Oteiza and Basterretxea and charming architecture.
Since 1969 "la Caixa" Foundation has taken over the preservation of this idyllic place which has become a leading natural and tourist attraction on the Cost Brava.
Moreover, every year the open-air auditorium holds the Festival of the Gardens of Cap Roig, one of the summer's most interesting musical events that attracts artists from all over the world.
