Guided educational activities for families: “The thousand faces of the Gardens of Cap Roig”

The Gardens of Cap Roig have a lot of stories to tell. They take us back in time and help us to discover more about the different species and composition of the Costa Brava countryside.

A guided tour helps both young and old to get to know the Gardens of Cap Roig in depth, to discover its many different faces and numerous stories.

Its location, on the cliffs of Calella de Palafrugell, offers exceptional views of the town, the Mediterranean and the Formigues Islands. Its remarkable topography and red soil, etched by the steep inclines and lively weather all year round, have given this location some very special features.

The activity is divided into two parts: a guided tour of the gardens and a practical part in a classroom.

The tour of the gardens allows visitors to enjoy the beauty of its plants and get to know how they have adapted to our climate, as well as discovering the gardens' history and how it has evolved.

Who were the Voevodsky's really? What were pirates doing at Cap Roig? What stories do the gardens' Holm oaks reveal? And the cypresses?

In the second part of the activity, inside a classroom, you'll find various observation tables equipped with digital magnifiers to discover the microscopic details of our plants and minerals. These observations complement the tour of the gardens, in this case providing a microscopic view.
