The annual report on the status of CO2 emissions in the world, headed by Fundació Empresa i Clima (Business and Climate Foundation), is an exhaustive analysis of the data on greenhouse gas emissions in Spain, Europe and world macrozones. With this report, Fundació Empresa i Clima renews the commitment to all business sectors, administrations and society in general.
The report has become a useful tool for analysis to increase the competitiveness of our companies and offer guidance on the business opportunities offered by emission rights markets around the world.
The Report on climate change in Catalonia, promoted by the Advisory Council for Sustainable Development, the Catalan Climate Change Office, the Meteorological Service of Catalonia and the Institute for Catalan Studies seeks to analyse the status of the climate and its recent and future evolution in Catalonia, from the standpoint of both the scientific bases and in relation to the diverse natural subsystems and socio-economic sectors.
Approximately one hundred and thirty authors, all of them scientists and technical experts, participate in this twenty-four-chapter report, with contributions from nearly forty scientific reviewers.
In accordance with its commitment to raising awareness about climate change, Obra Social ”la Caixa” joins each year in the Earth Hour initiative, an international event promoted by the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) held on the last Saturday of March each year.
During this initiative, all the lights of our social and cultural centres are switched off.
Participation in projects to offset carbon footprint
At Obra Social ”la Caixa” we share the concern generated by the impact of anthropogenic activities on the functioning of the biosphere. For this reason, since 2011 we have promoted a carbon management strategy that includes calculating and offsetting our carbon footprint. In addition, we offset the unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions in our activity by participating in high-quality emission reduction projects in the voluntary carbon market, which are certified according to international standards.
