Summer Science Campuses
Seven days to experience science and bring the work of scientific researchers to students.
The Campus Científicos de Verano (in Spanish only) are seven-day stays where young people from all over Spain have the chance to take part in scientific projects designed by university lecturers and carried out in research departments on 16 international and regional campuses of excellence.
The projects are aimed at 4th-year lower secondary students and 1st-year upper-secondary students specialising in science and technology, and revolve around areas as diverse as physics, oceanography, biology, engineering, robotics and astronomy.
This initiative sets out to encourage scientific vocations among young people. Participants have a unique chance to make direct contact with the daily work of researchers in a multicultural university setting, helping them to form their plans for future study. Moreover, participants can also take part in complementary activities of a scientific, cultural or recreational nature.
The Summer Science Campuses are an initiative by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, and are supported by the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
