Science City, a new place where science and society meet

Raising people's awareness of scientific and technological advances through a range of activities.

Science City [in Spanish only] is a project that brings science closer to different Spanish towns by organising interesting activities: talks, exhibitions, workshops, etc.

These help people living in towns at some distance from large cities to learn about scientific and technological breakthroughs at first-hand. This project is a joint initiative by the Higher Scientific Research Council (CSIC) and the "la Caixa" Foundation.

For all residents of towns that form part of the Science City network and everyone taking part in the activities online.

Science City organises activities to raise awareness of science in many different formats:

    • Exhibitions

    • Talks

    • Visits to research centres

    • Reading clubs

    • Online workshops that people can take part in, set up by CSIC researchers.

These activities form part of each town's cultural programme, thereby completing the range of scientific events on offer and improving people's knowledge of the latest breakthroughs in science and technology.

  • A programme that has focused on promoting science since 2012

  • More than 35.000  Spanish towns form part of this project

  • Workshops on a wide range of subjects help people to learn about the concepts of sustainable agriculture
