Modernisme inside and out

The permanent collection by the Modernista painter, Hermen Anglada-Camarasa, and the building's remarkable architecture make CaixaForum Palma the perfect place for lovers of this artistic movement.

In 1993 "la Caixa" Foundation reconverted the old building of the Gran Hotel de Palma into a cultural centre open to all kinds of audiences.

This jewel of Modernisme architecture contains a permanent collection of work by the painter Hermen Anglada-Camarasa. The "la Caixa" Anglada-Camarasa Collection offers a unique view of the role played by this legendary Catalan artist. It's made up of 400 pieces (oils, drawings, prints, lithographs, sculptures and personal objects) which formed part of the artist's collection. "la Caixa" Banking Foundation acquired this legacy from the relatives of Anglada-Camarasa and, since 1993, has exhibited his work permanently at CaixaForum Palma, a building designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Visitors can enjoy the artist's work through exhibitions whose content is renewed every year.

The building has been designed as a multipurpose space, suitable for holding cultural activities such as coffee chats, concerts, educational proposals, guided tours of the exhibitions and talks, among other activities. A vital meeting point for culture in the centre of the city.
