EduCaixa offers the teachers and pupils registered on the Big Data Programme the chance to take part in the Big Data Challenge, a competition in which teams can put the knowledge they've learned to the test.
To win a prize, participants must take on the role of a data journalism team and prepare a news story on a proposed contemporary issue, also explaining the procedures they've used to manage, analyse and process the data.
Projects can be presented from 15 November to 7 March.
The Big Data Challenge offers the chance to benefit from two prizes:
Barcelona Datathon: 3 days of learning by resolving a specific challenge related to the Big Data phenomenon and associated transformation of society. The competition will be held on 6-8 May in Barcelona and the pupils and teachers from the 16 most successful teams will take part.
Training trip to Silicon Valley (San Francisco, USA): 2 teams selected from the Datathon will travel to Silicon Valley, when they'll visit state of the art technology firms and get to know, first-hand, the huge potential of Big Data.
