Through the EduCaixa Young Entrepreneurs Programme, we're committed to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among our young people, promoting initiatives that boost their creativity and teamwork skills.

Every year, the "Desafío Emprende" Award recognises those teams with the best projects, offering them the chance to take part in an Entrepreneur Campus and training trip to Silicon Valley.

  • REQUIREMENTS

    1. This award is only open to centres registered with the Young Entrepreneurs programme during the 2018/2019 academic year, via the website www.educaixa.com.

    2. Participating teams must be in the 3rd or 4th year of Obligatory Secondary Education (ESO), Baccalaureate, Middle Grade Training Cycles (CFGM), programmes of Basic Training (PFB) or Training and Insertion (PFI).

    3. Teams must have between 4 and 6 members.

    4. Each team must have a tutor who is a teacher at the educational centre attended by the pupils.

    5. Participating teams must previously register by filling out this form.

  • PARTICIPATION CATEGORIES

    • Category A: aimed at students in the 3rd and 4th year of ESO, PFB and PFI.

    • Category B: aimed at students in the 1st year of the Baccalaureate and CFGM.

    • Category C: aimed at students in the 2nd year of the Baccalaureate.

  • THE PRIZES

    "Desafío Emprende" offers the chance to benefit from two prizes:

    • "Desafío Emprende" Campus: 3 days of workshops and seminars to provide entrepreneurial training for the pupils and teachers from the 35 best teams.

    • Training trip to Silicon Valley (San Francisco, USA) for the 5 best teams taking part in the "Desafío Emprende" Campus.

  • KEY DATES

    • 15 February 2019: Deadline for the teams to enter.

    • 15 March 2019: Deadline to present projects via the ”la Caixa” Foundation applications website.

  • REGISTRATION AND ACCREDITATION

    To present a project, the tutor for each team needs to certify they are a physical person via the applications website, where they will be given an access code (username and password).

    For this accreditation, all the fields requested need to be completed and the tax card (NIF) attached of the person in question, scanning or photographing both sides, which should then be saved in a single file.

    Once the profile has been set up, the accredited person will receive an email to confirm the username and password given. It's important to save this email as a reminder of the password assigned. You should check your spam folder if you don't receive any email..

    Anyone who has already registered (participants from previous years) will need the username specified and the password assigned at the time of their initial registration.

  • PRESENTATION PROCEDURE

    Projects should be presented via the applications website for the call for applications using the username and password obtained during accreditation. One logged in, each of the projects for the "Desafío Emprende" call for applications can be presented.

    To present a project properly, all the obligatory fields must be completed on the form (one form needs to be completed for each project/team).

    For more information, you can consult the Manual for presenting "Desafío Emprende" projects or the technical office.

  • EXPLANATION OF THE PROJECTS

    Apart from the information provided on the centre and team, projects must also be described following the NABCH model (module 6, Young Entrepreneurs Programme), providing the following details:

    • Needs: What need/problem is addressed by the proposal? What kind of user is it aimed at?

    • Approach: How is the need met? How are users provided with a solution?

    • Benefits: What benefits does the proposal provide?

    • Competitors: What other solutions resolve the same problem? What is different/new about this proposal?

    • Hook: A clear, concise message that highlights the key aspects of your proposal but which also has impact and is easy to remember.

  • ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

    The projects will be judged by the panel, applying the following criteria:

    Relevance

    A project is relevant when it resolves or improves an existing problem or need; i.e. when its goals match the needs of the situation.

    Economic, social and environmental sustainability

    An initiative is sustainable when its goals and positive impacts last over time. It must therefore be financially viable, generate benefits for society and respect and protect the environment.

    Originality

    A proposal is deemed original when it finds a new, innovative way to resolve a problem.

    Clarity and precision

    The clarity and precision of the materials presented will be highly rated.

  • KEY DATES

    The deadline to present projects is Friday, 15 March 2019. No project will be accepted after this date.

    The teams selected will be publicised on 12 April 2019.
