The “la Caixa” Banking Foundation announces its call for applications for the “la Caixa” Social Observatory Awards 2017, a competition held in memory of Dr Rogeli Doucastella, and which awards prizes to informative articles of scientific quality in the social sciences field.

The competition is aimed at young people who are carrying out work related with one of the Observatory’s four areas of knowledge: social inclusion, education, science and culture. With this initiative, the programme aims to support these researchers and disseminate recently-developed scientific knowledge of quality in a way that is accessible and understandable for the whole of society.

  • PRIZES

    Four prizes will be awarded, one for each category: social inclusion, education, science and culture.

    The overall prize money to be awarded is 40,000 euros, split into four awards of 10,000 euros each for the best article in each category.

    The winning articles will be published on the “la Caixa” Social Observatory website.

  • MAIN REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

    The competition may be entered by PhD holders of Spanish nationality who submitted their thesis at Spanish or foreign universities and PhD holders of other nationalities who submitted their thesis at any Spanish university.

    The authors must have submitted their thesis in the last five years (on or after 1 June 2012).

    The articles presented will not exceed a maximum length of 3,000 words.

    The research must focus on the Spanish situation, preferably comparing it with other countries in the EU or the OECD.

  • TAKE PART

    The presentation of the articles will be via the Calls for Applications app, with the username and password obtained via accreditation. It is necessary to fill in all the fields of the different tabs on the application and attach the article along with its accompanying documentation.
