• WHY

Thanks to the Wider Centre-Barcelona (World Institute for Digestive Endoscopy Research in Barcelona) and in collaboration with the "la Caixa" Foundation, Hospital Vall d'Hebron has become an international benchmark in state of the art endoscopic surgery, offering a better quality of life to patients and minimising the risks and consequences of undergoing surgery.

  • WHAT WE DO

We helped to create the Wider Centre-Barcelona to foster and promote research, the training of professionals and international awareness of endoscopic surgery, experimental and clinical.

The Centre is particularly dedicated to developing the methodology known as Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES), which allows the use of new, minimally invasive endoscopic technologies in surgery that avoid incisions, cause less infection and aid a faster and less painful recovery.

  • WHO WE WORK WITH

The Wider Centre-Barcelona, promoted by the "la Caixa" Foundation and the Catalan government, is located within Hospital Universitario Vall d'Hebron, as part of its Research Institute Foundation (FIR-HUVH).
