We confront the challenges of health in a globalised world

We cooperate on projects working for a world in which the place where you are born does not determine your chances in life.

Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal)

To confront the growing complexity and diversity of health challenges, a global approach is required. In 2016, the merger between ISGlobal and CREAL, the Environmental Epidemiology Research Centre, turned the centre into one of the pioneers in combining research into infectious diseases with research into non-transmittable diseases and environmental causes.

Like this, ISGlobal will be able to confront the new challenges in global health, in particular geographical and social inequality, infectious and chronic diseases in transition, urbanisation and the impact of the climate and environment on human health.

Since 2009, the ”la Caixa” foundation has supported the experimental phase of the vaccine against malaria in eight centres in Africa, linking it to global efforts to eradicate malaria through the ”la Caixa” anti-malaria programme.
