    The high levels of youth unemployment observed both in Europe and in Spain in recent years show the seriousness of the socioeconomic situation facing the group of young European people and the importance for both Public Administrations and for the society as a whole take the appropriate measures to successfully face this challenge.

    The European Council, in its Conclusions on the multiannual financial framework of 8 February 2013, decided to create the Youth Employment Initiative for the period 2014-2020, with the aim of supporting the measures proposed by the European Commission on 5 December 2012. This initiative was created with the aim of financing youth employment measures in those European regions with youth unemployment rates above 25%.

    The Spanish State, following the European recommendations, established the National Youth Guarantee Plan, which includes a common catalog of actions being developed by the agents involved in the Youth Employment Operational Program (POEJ).

    Within the framework of the Youth Employment Initiative and the Youth Employment Operational Program (POEJ), "la Caixa" Banking Foundation has been designated the Intermediate Organization of the POEJ for the period 2014-2020. Within the framework of the Thematic Objective 8: Promoting sustainability and quality in employment and promoting labor mobility, "la Caixa” Banking Foundation launched the “la Caixa" Empleo Joven Program to encourage the generation of young, stable and of quality employment, and contribute to the reduction of youth unemployment in Spain.

    This Program aims wants to be a direct aid to companies and entities to achieve this objective in turn boosting business activity and, ultimately, economic growth.

    With a total funding to carry out actions of the Youth Employment Initiative of more than 21 million euros, of which € 20,000,000 comes from the European Social Fund and € 1,765,154 from the "la Caixa" Banking Foundation, a line of aid for the recruitment of young people (over 16 and under 29) enrolled in the National System of Youth Guarantee (SNGJ), whose purpose is to benefit the largest possible number of unemployed young people.


    From March 7, 2017 to July 31, 2017.


    10,882,577 euros (expandable) for fixed amounts of aid according to the duration of the labor contract up to a maximum of 9,600 euros.

    Period of subsidy of the expense: from March 7, 2017 to September 30, 2018, both inclusive.


    Through "la Caixa" Empleo Joven website, you can access the private area to start and manage applications.


    Aid to businesses, including self-employed entrepreneurs, associations, foundations and other non-profit organizations, for the recruitment of young people, enrolled in the SNGJ. Failing this, they must be registered as jobseekers in a public employment service or have completed the renewal of the job demand, in both cases as of December 25, 2016. Specifically:

    • SIX (6) months aid for hiring a fixed term (temporary), with a minimum period of stay of SIX (6) months.
      Maximum aid: € 4200 (6m).

    • Aid of a maximum of twelve (12) months for indefinite contracts, with a minimum period of stay of SIX (6) months and extendable to two successive periods of THREE (3) months each until the maximum total duration of TWELVE (12) months.
      Maximum aid: € 9,600 (12m).
