Salvador Alemany was born in Barcelona in 1944. He is Trustee of Fundación Bancaria Caixa d’Estalvis i Pensions de Barcelona since June 2014.
He holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona and a post graduate degree from IESE. He is also a professor of Commerce and Chartered Accountant.
Chairman of Saba Infraestructuras, SA since December 2011. He was Chairman of Abertis Infraestructuras, SA, from June 2009 to May 2018. He was previously CEO of the Company after the formation of the Group resulting from the merger of Acesa and Aurea (2003). Beforehand, he was General Managing Director of Acesa, from 1998 and Saba from 1987.
Regarding his institutional activity, he is Chairman of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Foundation. Also, he chaired the Abertis Foundation, the Consell Assessor per a la Reactivació Econòmica i el Creixement de la Generalitat de Catalunya, the Economy Circle “Cercle d’Economia” and the Social Board of the University of Barcelona.
Among his social activities, he is Vice-chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fundación Privada Institut Guttmann. Previously, he was Chairman of the Red Cross in Barcelona, Vice-chairman of the Red Cross in Catalonia and member of the National Committee of the Spanish Red Cross.
In the field of sporting activities, he was Chairman of the Basketball Section and Vice-chairman of the Barcelona Football Club from 1986 to 2003. Co-founder of Euroleague of Basketball.
He has been honoured with various medals and rewards: Commendatore dell'ordine al Merito della Reppublica Italiana (2003), Gold Medal of the Spanish Red Cross (2007), Grande Ufficiale della Stella de la Solidarietà Italiana (2008), Gold Medal of the Mérito Cívico del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona (18/04/2011), Crue de Sant Jordi of the Regional Government of Catalonia (27/04/2011), Cruz Blanca al Mérito Policial (3/10/2011), Commander of the Order of Isabella the Catholic of the Government of Spain (8/01/2014), White Cross of Military Merit of the Ministry of Defence (25/06/2014) and Officier dans l'Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur (2015).
